DIY – Race Line Tracks

It’s fairly easy and straightforward, so you really can Do It Yourself. I think it’s worth it. Not only because of the looks, because I believe it provides a better grip for the cars.

  1. Since we are spraying the track parts, we need to tape the sections up. The “powerlines” and the connecting parts need to be covered. I prefer using masking tape from Tesa, but I guess any masking tape will do. Don’t forget to cover the sensors if the part you are taping has some.

2. Since its plastic, we need a primer ( a bonding agent). So we start with a layer of primer. I have tried primers from different vendors and it really doesn’t matter. But I’m using Dupli-color.

3. Now we start to spray the parts with granit. I’m using granit effect color from Dupli-color. I think it gives the track a great look. I’m not the first using this color. I have seen it on Slotmania Online and Apisring. The effect color has some sort of texture, meaning it’s a bit rough and therefore provides the track with a good grip. You need to spray at least 2-3 layers of this color.

4. On top we need some sort of varnish. I’m using Dupli-color Granit Spray Clear Lacquer. One layer of this varnish will be enough.

5. We finish the repainted track-part, with some grooming.
